The beautiful island of Osea, off the South-East coast, is rich in history for Jo and James. It’s where Jo and her family used to holiday when they were kids, and, when he passed away 6 years ago, it’s also where they decided to scatter Jo’s dad’s ashes. Whilst he couldn’t be there on her wedding day in person, the poignant location meant that he was very much a part of it all.
This is the story of a relaxed and fun wedding day, in one of the most stunning locations in the UK. Jo and James well and truly made their wedding day their own by whisking their friends and family off to a remote island. And whilst the guests couldn’t technically leave whilst the tide was in, it looked to me like they were having a good enough time to want to stay anyway!
Frequently Asked Questions
What is it like filming a wedding on Osea Island?
Osea Island is unlike any other wedding venue in the UK. The causeway access, tidal rhythm, and coastal Essex landscape give every film an unmistakable sense of place. The isolation also creates a unique atmosphere — guests are fully present and absorbed in the day in a way that rarely happens at mainland venues.
Are there any practical challenges to filming on an island?
The tidal causeway means access windows need to be respected — kit and crew need to arrive before the tide comes in. I treat this as part of the planning process, not a complication. It’s also worth noting that the island’s remoteness means there are no backup suppliers nearby, so preparation is everything.
Do you travel to Essex for wedding videography?
Yes. I film weddings throughout England and Osea Island is a venue I have experience at. Depending on travel distance and duration of coverage, travel costs may apply — this is discussed transparently at the enquiry stage.
