Pylewell Park Wedding Film | Emma & Jonathan's Weekend Wedding in Hampshire

Emma and Jonathan wedding film at Pylewell Park, Hampshire

Pylewell Park is a private country house estate near Lymington in Hampshire, overlooking the Solent. It’s one of the most beautiful weekend wedding venues in the south of England. This is the story of Emma and Jonathan’s summer wedding there — and what it’s like to get married at Pylewell Park.

What is it like to have a wedding at Pylewell Park?

Pylewell Park combines the charm of a British country house with stunning views of the Solent. The grounds are beautiful, the house itself is elegant without being stuffy, and the venue offers the kind of flexibility that allows you to shape the weekend around how you actually want to celebrate. Emma and Jonathan’s wedding had a relaxed, garden-party feel — an outdoor ceremony (the weather played ball), drinks on the lawn overlooking the water, dinner in the Pavilion, and dancing well into the night. The venue has a warmth and character that feels genuinely special, not just hired.

Can you have a weekend wedding at Pylewell Park?

Yes, and it’s one of Pylewell Park’s biggest strengths. The estate has enough bedrooms for 25 guests to stay on-site, and the venue can be booked for the full weekend. Emma and Jonathan hosted an intimate pre-wedding dinner on the Friday evening for their closest family and friends, the main celebration for 107 guests on the Saturday, and a relaxed BBQ for 82 guests on the Sunday for those who’d travelled from far away. Having three days meant they could spend real, quality time with everyone.

Can you have an outdoor ceremony at Pylewell Park?

Yes. Pylewell Park offers the option of an outdoor ceremony in the grounds, with indoor alternatives available in case of weather. Emma and Jonathan had their ceremony outside at 1pm, with live classical guitar and violin providing the music. The setting — the grounds of the house with the Hampshire countryside beyond — made for a beautiful, natural ceremony.

What does a typical wedding day look like at Pylewell Park?

Emma and Jonathan’s Saturday ran as follows: hair and makeup from 6.15am (a long bridal prep with a large bridal party), photographer arriving at 11.45am, ceremony at 1pm outdoors, drinks and canapes from 1.30pm to 4pm with speeches during the reception, couple’s portraits at 4pm, wedding breakfast in the Pavilion from 4.30pm, golden hour photographs around 7pm, first dance at 7.25pm outdoors, ceilidh dancing from 7.30pm, evening food at 8.30pm, second ceilidh set at 9pm, and DJ set in the Pavilion from 10pm to midnight. The whole day had a natural, unhurried flow.

How many guests can Pylewell Park accommodate?

Emma and Jonathan hosted 107 guests for the Saturday wedding. The venue has an on-site Pavilion for the wedding breakfast and evening reception, plus the house and grounds for drinks and the ceremony. 25 guests can stay in the house over the weekend. The BBQ on Sunday accommodated 82 guests in a more relaxed setting.

What makes Pylewell Park different from other Hampshire wedding venues?

The views of the Solent set Pylewell apart. The combination of the country house, the grounds, the water views, and the flexibility to host a full weekend gives it a character that purpose-built venues can’t match. Emma and Jonathan visited five or six venues across Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire before finding Pylewell — and fell in love with it immediately.

Emma and Jonathan’s Story

Emma and Jonathan met in 2012, on their very first night as undergraduates at UCL, across a table football table in their student halls. Twelve years later, they were getting married. Their path included long-distance while Jonny did his PhD in Cambridge and Emma stayed at UCL for medical school, finally moving in together in 2020, buying their first house in January 2025, and a proposal on one of their favourite lockdown walks in Cambridgeshire.

They described themselves as loyal. In place of a traditional cake, they had a croquembouche — cut together as they entered the Pavilion. The evening ceilidh got absolutely everyone involved, from grandparents to children. When I asked what they wanted to remember in twenty years, they said the importance of their friends and family to them, and of them to their friends and family. You could feel that spirit in every moment of the weekend.
