V&A Museum Wedding Film | Zoe & Dominik's Evening Wedding at the Victoria and Albert Museum
The Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington is one of the world’s greatest museums and an extraordinary London wedding venue. This is the story of Zoe and Dominik’s evening wedding there — and what it’s actually like to get married at the V&A.
What is it like to have a wedding at the V&A Museum?
The V&A is extraordinary. The scale of the architecture, the beauty of the galleries, and the way the light changes as the evening draws in create something genuinely cinematic — the setting does an enormous amount of the work for you. Zoe and Dominik’s evening wedding made the most of this: as daylight faded and the museum’s interior lighting took over, the atmosphere shifted from elegant to magical. It’s a venue that feels both grand and surprisingly intimate, especially with 135 guests in one of the museum’s event spaces. For couples who want a London wedding that feels truly unique, the V&A is in a class of its own.

Can you have an evening wedding at the V&A Museum?
Yes, and it works beautifully. Zoe and Dominik’s ceremony didn’t begin until 7pm, which gave the whole day a different energy to a traditional daytime wedding. Their first look took place inside the museum at 6pm — just the two of them, alone in one of the most beautiful buildings in London, before any guests arrived. Guests arrived at 6.45pm, the ceremony began at 7pm, cocktail hour followed in one of the galleries, dinner was served at 8.30pm, and dancing ran from 10.30pm until 2am. The late start means the museum is at its atmospheric best — quieter, more dramatic, lit for the evening.
What does a wedding day at the V&A Museum look like?
Zoe and Dominik got ready at The Kensington hotel, a short walk from the museum in South Kensington. The first look was at 6pm inside the V&A. Guests arrived at 6.45pm, the ceremony was at 7pm, cocktail hour at 7.30pm, dinner at 8.30pm, speeches at 10.15pm, cake cutting into first dance at 10.30pm, live band until late, then DJ and midnight food until 2am. Both of their sisters gave readings during the ceremony, which added a personal, family touch to the grand setting.

How many guests can the V&A accommodate for a wedding?
Zoe and Dominik hosted 135 guests. The V&A has several event spaces of different sizes, so it can accommodate both larger celebrations and more intimate gatherings. Their wedding used the museum’s spaces for both the ceremony and reception, keeping everything under one roof.
Why did Zoe and Dominik choose the V&A?
The venue was deeply personal. When they first met, they were both living in South Kensington. Their first date was around the corner from the museum. Zoe studied at Imperial College, right next door, and lived in the area for years. And there’s a lovely historical echo: Victoria and Albert were an English-Germanic couple — just like Zoe and Dominik.
Zoe and Dominik’s Story
Zoe and Dominik met at work, became close friends, and started dating. They got ready at The Kensington hotel and had their first look in the V&A before any guests arrived — an incredibly intimate moment in one of the world’s most beautiful buildings. The ceremony included readings from both of their sisters, speeches from both fathers and from the couple themselves, and a first dance that rolled straight into the live band. They described themselves in one word as obsessed, and what they want to remember in twenty years is how perfectly matched they are. It was a day full of emotion, elegance, and a brilliant party.
